Bookkeeping Cleanup Help ask the three questions
You have the return, a bank name, and a month you do not trust, and that is the whole pile. Everything else on this address waits on three answers. Year. Bank. Open month.
Which year was filed
If you do not know, the rest of the plan is a guess.

The filed year is the boundary. Work that rewrites entries stops at that boundary. Work that can still change the numbers starts after it. Owners sometimes remember the year they meant to file and not the year that was accepted. We treat accepted as the fact. Meant to is a note beside it.
Read the longer version on the year page if you want the order. The short version is enough to start a call. A year you can name is useful, and so is saying the year is unknown.
Which bank is operating
Point at the account that pays the ordinary bills.

If you have four logins, you still have one operating account. The others are savings, a card, a personal leak, or a closed account the feed has not forgotten. Naming the one account keeps the first month from becoming a tour of every login you own.
A merchant deposit account is not automatically the operating account. It receives money. The operating account is the one that pays people and vendors. They can be the same. Often they are not.
What is still open
The oldest unmatched month is the start, even if a later month looks calm.

Open is a fact about the match, not a mood about the business. A month you have not looked at is open. A month you looked at and did not lock is open. A month with a holding line you can see can still be closed. A month with a gap you hid in profit cannot.
Answer the three in any order. We will put them back into sequence. Year, then bank, then the oldest open month. That sequence is the help. A longer task list before those answers is how a cleanup becomes another pile.
If this is the month you are in
Answer whichever of the three you know. Leave the others blank.
Tell us which month is open
You will be talking to the Steven Palmieri practice.
